As we known,we must do oil immersion on the traditional powder metallurgy bushings and the other abrasion-resistant products,I think many people knew it well. While on the metal injection molding parts,oil immersion is normal.But for many parts,it is not necessary to do oil immersion operation,just do injection,degreasing,sintering and surface treatment only. Oil immersion operation is necessary for some porous and abrasion-resistant parts after sintering.
Metal injection molding (MIM) technology is another one process of powder metallurgy sinter technology,and oil immersion also could be applied on metal injection molding parts. After oil immersion operation,the corrosion-resistance properties and abrasive-resiatance properties could be improved greatly.And, for the porous bushings or the gears,oil immersion could make the parts become self-lubricated,so we could reduce the lubrication maintenance frequency during the daily operation,and prolong its using life.Generally,the parts which have been oil immersion treated would be used on the abrasive environment,after the parts surface was frictioned,the surface temperature would rise,then the lubrication oil in the spacing flow out,so an oil coating shaped on the parts surface.
But if we would like to do oil immersion operation on the surface of metal injection molding part,we must clean the parts surface.There are three kinds of oil immersion operation method on metal injection molding components.
1, Vacuum oil immersion:
Put the sinter mim parts into the vacuum box,then close the vacuum box to make it sealed, start the device to make it reach the real the vacuum status,then put the lubrication oil into the vacuum box by special pipes,then heated to 80℃,then the lubrication oil would go into the parts.This is an high efficient oil immersion method.
2,Hot oil immersion.
Put the cleaned sinter mim parts into the oil box then heaton the box.
3,Ordinary oil immersion
Put the cleaned sintering mim parts into the lubrication oil box on room temperature.
So the mim manufacturers should choose the suitable oil immersion method according to the requirements from customers.
